Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SD&G
Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SD&G is a safe, fun and supervised place where children of all cultural and economical backgrounds, can participate in social, recreational and educational programs that are designed to help children grow, and have personal development and reach their full potential. We try everything in our power to help children reach their full potential and skills to fulfill their personal dreams in life. Sadly not all children see the potential within themselves.
Our mission here at Boys & Girls Club is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. We also have Core Values and which guides us to work with children, youth, families and communities. These Core Values are the standard by which all Boys and Girls Club services are measured.

+ Sharing a specific Skill
Individuals with a special skill they would like to share with children and teens are always welcome! Special skills can include anything from dance, art, science, music etc… Special Skills Volunteers can offer a one-time session or choose to offer an on-going program for several weeks/months.
+ Special Events
Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG has several large fundraising and special events throughout the year. These events are a lot of fun and offer unique networking opportunities.
+ Teen Program / After-School Program
Program Volunteers work directly with the children or teens and the staff team in daily programs. Program Volunteers are often invited to participate in trainings offered to staff at little to no cost. There are several locations in Cornwall/SDG to choose from.
There are 3 main programs;
- After-School Program Sept-June 3-6pm
- Teen Drop-In Program Sept-June 6-8pm
- Summer Camps July-Aug 8am- 5pm
+ Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors is made up of some wonderful volunteers and we are always recruiting!
+ Rogers Raising the Grade – Mentor/Tutor
A program that helps young people aged 12 to 19 who are at risk of dropping out of school, explore, set, and achieve their academic and career goals. This program compliments other programs offered at the Boys and Girls Club with a specific focus on education. The RRTG program offers academic support, post-secondary and career discovery, and opportunities to use technology and quality online resources in RRTG Technology Centres.
+ Summer Camp
During the summer we offer various summer camps focusing on art, sports and a general camp. Our camps run from 8:00-5:30 PM and volunteers can participate in activities with children aged 6-12.
An application form should be filled out prior to volunteering. It is always beneficial to obtain a criminal check and vulnerable sectors screening prior to volunteering with children and youth and to do their research on our organization before coming for the initial interview.
For our organizations volunteers are important because they provide extra support for our staff and children at their busy program locations. It is a great way to role model to the children that volunteerism is a positive way to give back to the community and instilling that they too should give back. Volunteers have the opportunity to build their skills but it also allows for relationship building and supporting children and youth as they make their journey to adulthood.
Our volunteers are asked to commit to 1 year with that being said we are flexible and often have volunteers are seasonal. Many are only available throughout the school year (September-June), or throughout the summer (July-August).
Our official process for volunteering begins with an application form, interview and reference check, orientation and then choosing a start date. We do ask our volunteers to commit for one year if possible.
