North Glengarry Fire Department
The North Glengarry Fire Department is made up of a large contingent of dedicated volunteers spanning the township in 3 different fire stations. Each fire station has a fire chief and approximately 30 firefighters. The fire service is well equipped with modern equipment and considerable training programs.
Due to the nature of being a firefighter there is a probation period of one year before you are eligible to go on an act of duty with the other firefighters. All ages and genders are welcome.
The job requires fire rescue and emergency services, such as first aid training and equipment usage. For the probationary period the duties newcomers are asked to do is:
Supplying Equipment when needed: Oxygen tanks, Ladders and First Aid Kits.
Additional Duties: Cleaning the Fire Unit (Truck), Restocking First Aid Kits

Job requires fire rescue and emergency services. Volunteers will also be asked to clean and restock fire truck, first aid kits and other equipment. For the first little while when starting on the job, they will be assisting the more experienced firefighters with supplying the equipment. Such as ladders, oxygen tanks, and any other resources the team may need while fighting a fire.
To get in contact with the fire department you can simply call or drop off an application at the township. There is a probation period of one year before you are eligible to do an act of duty of fighting fires. All ages and genders are welcome. Volunteers are paid on duty.

Each station has a fire chief and a complement of approx. 30 firefighters. The Fire Service is well equipped with modern equipment and considerable training programs.
The 3 fire stations deliver fire suppression, inspection and education services as well as first medical response and extrication support for vehicle accidents.
The 3 stations are in Alexandria, Apple Hill and Maxville.
The fire service maintains aid agreements with its neighbours and dispatch is provided by the Hawkesbury Fire Department.
There is a training process before going on duty. They will be training volunteers in all aspects that are required on duty.
